A year of culture, community and celebration – Fylde looks forward to an even brighter 2026
As we look back on 2025, it’s clear this has been another year of progress and pride for Fylde. The completion of the first phase of the St Annes Square improvements has created a vibrant, accessible, and welcoming heart for the town. Already home to memorable events, this revitalised space will continue to be a focal point for community life. Looking ahead, phase two of the St Annes Masterplan, the Garden Street and Pier Link projects, will begin in early 2026, further enhancing connectivity from the Square to the Pier and strengthening St Annes as an attractive destination.
This year has been especially significant for culture and heritage in Fylde. The opening of the Fylde Gallery has provided a museum‑standard exhibition space to showcase the treasured Lytham St Annes Art Collection, one of the most important municipal collections in the country. This new cultural hub not only preserves our artistic heritage but also makes it accessible to residents, schools and visitors, reinforcing Fylde’s unique identity.
Our events calendar has flourished, bringing culture to life in the public realm. The much‑loved 1940s Wartime Weekend celebrated our history and community spirit; the spectacular International Kite Festival filled our skies with colour; the magical Ice Festival brought winter wonder; and the inaugural Fylde Fest: In the Square showcased local talent and creativity.
We’ve also taken important steps to enhance swimming opportunities across Fylde. A new operator, Places Leisure, will take over St Annes Pool from April, ensuring continuity of provision, while Kirkham Baths remains a priority for re‑opening as funding opportunities are actively pursued.
