The Household Support Fund has been funded for another year to the sum of £261,853 in the fifth round of government funding distributed to Fylde Council through Lancashire County Council.
The fully funded revenue budget increase was approved by Fylde Council’s Executive Committee on April 25. With the renewal of funding, Fylde Council and its partners can continue to help eligible vulnerable or low-income households with essentials such as food, clothing and utilities, as well as signposting to other sources of advice and support.
Cllr Chris Dixon, Lead Member for Social Wellbeing, said: “Over the past five cohorts of the funding, we have been proud to work closely with partners including Citizens Advice Fylde, HomeStart, local foodbanks and other key community groups.
“This collaborative approach has enabled us to maximise the impact of the funding, ensuring it reaches those most in need and delivers real tangible benefits to vulnerable members of the community.”
The latest round of funding will cover the period running to September 30, 2024, with all funding required to be committed by this date. The indicative schemes that the fund will support include energy bills and essential support through Citizens Advice Fylde, vouchers and food parcels through local foodbanks, white goods through Homestart via signposting or referrals from partners, and multiple support schemes through Fylde Council’s Housing Service.
The Household Support Fund is administered by Citizens Advice Fylde on behalf of Fylde Council. For the full eligibility criteria and information on how to apply, including what the scheme does not cover, please visit the Household Support Funding page on the Fylde Council website.
