Fylde Council has distributed and invested more than £29m in Covid-19 grants and support to businesses, residents and projects since April last year.
The bulk of the money has been provided to a wide range of businesses to help them survive during the succession of lockdowns and tiered restrictions which started almost 12 months ago.
Vital funds have also been spent supporting vulnerable people across the borough as well as providing financial support for the Covid Tackling Inequalities Project, Community Champion Fund, the homeless, the Fylde Community Hub as well as self-isolation payments.
The council has invested funds in delivering key requirements including lateral flow testing and contact tracing, the appointment of Covid secure marshals for compliance and enforcement as well as specialist personnel including a Protection Practitioner.
Extra resources have been commissioned for cleaning, communications and additional staffing to provide preventative and responsive support.
More financial support has also been allocated for the next financial year starting this April to help businesses and organisations during the continued restrictions and national roadmap of unlocking.
Councillor Karen Buckley, Leader of Fylde Borough Council, said it was reassuring to know that local people had been supported as much as possible.
“Despite the incredible challenges of the last 12 months, I am heartened that people across Fylde have received much needed vital financial support during the pandemic.
“We have been able to help some of our most vulnerable community members as well as local businesses, which are the lifeblood of our local economy.
“I am hopeful that as the country progresses along the roadmap out of lockdown, the financial aid that has been provided will have played an important role in helping businesses and individuals bounce back.”
