Fylde Council is delighted to mark one year since the completion of the transformed St Annes Square, a space that has brought our community together through a vibrant and diverse programme of events since its unveiling in August 2025.
The impact was immediate, with town centre footfall in August 2025 reaching over 277,000 visitors, the highest August figure on record and an 8% increase on the previous year, surpassing even pre-pandemic levels.
The £3.13 million refurbishment of the Square, delivered upon the town’s 150th anniversary, has welcomed a fantastic range of activities in its first twelve months. Free Yoga in the Square sessions, live Kite Festival entertainment and the St Annes Music Festival all took place within weeks of the Square’s completion. October’s Fylde Fest: In the Square and November’s much-loved Christmas lights switch-on showcased the space’s versatility, while Fylde Fest: Spring into Life brought residents back to enjoy the Square as the warmer months arrived. Monthly artisan markets in partnership with Crafty Vintage and the popular farmers market have become regular fixtures, and the Square even hosted crazy golf during the AIG Women’s Open.
St Annes Town Council has delivered its own wonderful programme with Sounds in the Square live music sessions, Sensations in the Square, and the popular Steps in the Square series featuring Zumba, Salsa and Line Dancing. The weekly biker meetup continues to be a firm favourite, drawing visitors to the Square and supporting our local cafés.
Councillor Karen Buckley, Leader of Fylde Council, said: “It has been wonderful to see the Square become such a vibrant part of our community over the past year. From live music and dancing to markets and festivals, residents and visitors have truly embraced this fantastic space.
“This is exactly the kind of investment that makes a real difference to our town, and we look forward to welcoming even more people to enjoy everything the Square has to offer.”
Residents and visitors can look forward to an exciting programme of events continuing through the summer and into the autumn.
