This month Mark Evans, Chief Planning Officer, enters retirement after 22 years at Fylde Council.
Since joining the Council in 2003, Mark has played a pivotal role in shaping planning policy and development across Fylde, demonstrating exceptional leadership and expertise in navigating complex planning matters. His contribution has been instrumental in maintaining the borough’s unique character while facilitating development and growth.
Councillor Karen Buckley, Leader of the Council, commented: “Mark has been an exceptional Chief Planning Officer and a tremendous asset to Fylde Council. His leadership has set the standard for planning excellence, and his work will continue to inspire those who follow in his footsteps. We thank Mark for all his hard work, his integrity, and his passionate service to our community.”
Councillor Richard Redcliffe, Chairman of the Planning Committee, paid tribute to Mark’s service: “On behalf of planning members past and present, I extend our sincere gratitude to Mark for his outstanding contribution to our borough. His experience and dedication have established a strong foundation for Fylde’s future.”
Allan Oldfield, Chief Executive of Fylde Council, added: “Mark’s expertise and commitment have been invaluable to the Council. His thoughtful approach to planning challenges and his ability to balance conservation with necessary development have helped shape Fylde into the thriving borough it is today. On a personal note, he has been a trusted colleague who will be greatly missed by the entire management team. I hope he has a long and enjoyable retirement between France and the Lakes.”
Mark said: “It has been an absolute privilege to serve Fylde for the past 22 years. I am proud of everything the planning team has accomplished over that time and how it has ensured that the borough remains an attractive and prosperous place in which to live and work as well as a fantastic place to visit. I’ll certainly miss the many people, not just in the council but in the wider community, who have helped in achieving those goals.”
As Mark steps into retirement, Fylde Borough Council and the wider community wish him all the best for the future and extend their heartfelt thanks for his years of service.
