Fylde Council has formally submitted its Local Impact Report to the Examination Authority regarding the proposed Morgan and Morecambe Transmissions Cable Project.

The Local Impact Report represents the Council’s official position on the transmission project and details the potential impacts on Fylde’s communities and natural environment. This comprehensive document is a crucial element in the examination process, as both the Examining Authority and the Secretary of State are legally required to consider it when determining the application.

Following ongoing engagement with the project, the Council’s report raises several substantive issues regarding the proposed development, focusing on both the procedural aspects of the application and the potential environmental impacts that could affect Fylde residents and the area’s ecological systems.

Councillor Richard Redcliffe, Fylde Council’s Deputy Leader and Planning Committee Chairman, said: “This report is a very important document for Fylde, highlighting serious procedural and environmental concerns we have about this application and the impacts on our communities and local environment. We have been consistent in our views towards this application and require the Examining Authority and Secretary of State to give this report the full weight it deserves in arriving at their decision.”

The Morgan and Morecambe Transmission Assets project is regarded as a Nationally Significant Infrastructure Project (NSIP) which requires a Development Consent Order (DCO). Progress on the determination of the Development Consent Order required in order to carry out the project is available on the Planning Inspectorate’s website.

Details of the transmission project are available on the developer’s website.

The complete Local Impact Report is now available for public viewing here.
