Lytham Windmill will be lighting up blue and yellow from 1 -7 June to support Volunteers’ week 2021.
The annual event which celebrates volunteers across the UK offers people a chance to say thanks for their invaluable contribution to our community.
It goes without saying that the volunteers in Fylde have played a key role in the pandemic response. During an exceptionally difficult year, like-minded people across the borough have taken the time to volunteer and make a huge difference to our community – just as they do every year. We’d like to take this opportunity to thank our volunteers and recognise the fantastic support they have provided to the residents of Fylde throughout the last twelve months.
Cllr Thomas Threlfall, Chairman of the Environment, health and Housing Committee said: “I can’t thank our volunteers enough for the fantastic contribution they make to our community each year, and even more so throughout the pandemic. I encourage people to admire the lighting of Lytham Windmill and to share your pictures to show your appreciation.”
For those who would like to show support for volunteers The Volunteer Centre, Blackpool Wyre & Fylde is encouraging residents to visit the windmill, take photos, and share them on social media using the hashtag #lightingupvolunteersweek and tag @VolunteerBWF on Twitter or @VCBWF on Facebook, where all Volunteer Week content can be found.
