The Fairhaven Restoration project are looking for volunteers to help run a new Park Ambassador Scheme. The scheme involves volunteers being trained up in all things Fairhaven and then act as tourist information, support and interpretation around the park. Volunteers will be on duty within the park in 2’s and will be armed in Fairhaven uniform with a tablet to access information and have electronic visitor surveys.
Other National Lottery Heritage funded projects have done similar schemes and have seen huge positive effects on the park having people on site offering help and support to visitors. It gives a great sense of community within the parkland.
We will be starting the training sessions towards the end of February with the hope that we start on site for the Easter holidays.
The training sessions will include –
First aid & safeguarding
Customer service
Visitor monitoring and evaluation
Lake heritage and development
Natural history of lake and Ribble Estuary
Some will be in house sessions while others will be accredited training courses. We are not expecting volunteers to be experts in all areas, just to have some basic knowledge so you feel comfortable talking to visitors and answering questions.
