We are pleased to announce that Fylde Council is again offering free places on its Holiday Activity and Food (HAF) programme this Summer for children who are eligible for benefits related free school meals.

The programme is funded by the Department for Education with the aim to provide healthy food and enriching activities to disadvantaged children in the Easter, Summer and Christmas holidays.

The summer holiday HAF provision is for school aged children who receive benefits-related free school meals and includes places for both primary and secondary aged HAF eligible children. Please check the club details through the links below to find out which ages are accepted.

Our local HAF partners are hosting camps which offer a wide range of activities including sports, crafts, games and fun group activities with food provided each day.

If your child receives benefits related free school meals, you can obtain a HAF code from your child’s school to register free of charge.

Please note that all sessions need to be pre-booked and children cannot turn-up on the day..

Eligible children can attend up to sixteen sessions free of charge with any of the participating providers over the summer holidays.

We are required to make random checks to ensure that the unique HAF codes are being used by the children that this programme aims to benefit.

Please click on the club links to find out more about the summer clubs and ensure you have your code ready to make your booking.

We hope that this programme provides a happy, healthy and fun experience for all who attend.

Ages: 11 – 16

Overview: This Summer, CrossFit Blackpool will be delivering The Dept for Education Award Winning Project – The Strong Girl Squad HAF Programme. The programme is designed to engage secondary age girls (Years 7-12) with strength and conditioning, building healthy relationships with food and their bodies, and offering them the opportunity to meet inspirational members of their local community. It also offers somewhere girls can learn about strength and conditioning in a safe environment as commercial gyms are frequently uncomfortable places for women and girls of all ages, and most secondary school PE curriculums do not include strength training for girls. Our project leads are qualified strength and conditioning coaches with many years’ experience of coaching young people in both weightlifting and high intensity interval training. The programme introduces and instructs the participants in a fun, safe and effective exercise routine consisting of weightlifting, bodyweight movements, squats, presses, sprints, and other cardio intensive exercises. Our exercise programme is designed to be scalable to the ability and needs of any participant. Movements can be adjusted and swapped to get the same or similar stimulus, while keeping the participants safe. It is our belief that our physical training programme can show teenage girls that it is fun to be strong, and to enjoy what our bodies are capable of, instead of focusing too much on what our bodies look like. We would welcome girls of all ages, shapes, sizes and levels of ability. No one will be singled out because of their ability or inexperience; everyone will train together in an environment of support and encouragement. On arrival a snack e.g. tea and toast will be offered and a lunch will be provided. ** Children with Special Educational Needs & Disabilities may be accepted but please check by calling the club first before booking.
