Storm Éowyn is forecast to bring very strong winds and potential disruption on Friday, 24 January.

The Met Office has issued:

  • Yellow Weather Warning: In effect from 00:00 – 23:59
  • Amber Weather Warning: In effect from 06:00 – 21:00

We strongly advise residents and visitors to avoid coastal areas during this time. Please follow the Met Office’s guidance to only travel if absolutely necessary.

For the most up-to-date information on Storm Éowyn, visit the Met Office website or follow their social media channels.

Park Closures

Due to the severe weather forecast, the following green spaces will temporarily close from 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM on Friday:

  • Ashton Gardens
  • Crescent Gardens
  • Lowther Gardens
  • Park View
  • Green Drive

Closures may be extended, fully or partially, depending on the level of risk and any damage caused by the storm. Sites will reopen as soon as it is safe to do so.

These closures are in line with our tree safety procedures for high winds and include all park roads and footpaths. Gates will be locked, and ungated entrances will be secured with hazard tape.

Refuse Collections

At this time, no changes are expected to refuse collections on Friday. However, if weather conditions create risks for our teams, adjustments may be necessary.

Please check our social media channels regularly for updates regarding any changes to collection schedules.
