The enchanting town of St. Anne’s on the Sea is set to sparkle and shine as the annual Christmas Lights switch-on returns to the town centre on Saturday 25th of November.

The eagerly anticipated event, organised by the Community and Neighbourhood working group (CAN) – the event and community arm of St. Anne’s on the Sea Town Council – promises to be a day filled with festive delights for the entire community.

Santa Claus himself will be making appearances in the satellite shopping areas, spreading joy and delivering presents to local children. The Santa tour is scheduled to take place between 12 noon and 3.00pm, ensuring that the magic of Christmas is felt throughout the town.

As the day progresses, the Amphitheatre will come alive with the spirit of the season as Churches Together hosts a heartwarming nativity ceremony and carol singing from 3pm onwards. Families are invited to join this cherished tradition and share in the warmth of the Christmas story.

The main stage will then burst into musical celebration from 4.00pm to 5.45pm, featuring performances by local community groups, schools, and talented performers.

This prelude sets the stage for the grand finale – the Christmas Lights switch-on at 5.45pm, when residents and visitors can witness the town centre transform into a twinkling wonderland as the festive lights illuminate the night sky.

Kevin Martin, Town Clerk for St. Anne’s on the Sea Town Council, said: “We are thrilled to bring this joyous occasion to St Annes and grateful for the support of our sponsors, volunteers and the entire community that makes it possible.

“Residents and visitors are encouraged to mark their calendars and join in the festivities on the 25th of November for a day of merriment, music, and the magical illumination of St Annes Christmas lights.”

Cllr Karen Harrison, Chair of  Community and Neighbourhood working group (CAN), added: I am delighted to illuminate St Annes with the spirit of unity and joy this festive season. Our community-focused Christmas light switch-on symbolises the warmth and togetherness that define our town and I am sure everyone will have a wonderful time.

Cllr Karen Buckley, Leader of Fylde Council, expressed her enthusiasm for the event, stating, “The St Annes Christmas Lights Switch On has become a highlight in our community calendar, bringing together families and neighbors to celebrate the magic of the season. It’s a wonderful testament to the spirit of togetherness that defines our town.”

Councillor Jayne Nixon, Lead Member for Tourism, Leisure and Culture at Fylde Council, added, “The investment by the Town Council into the Christmas Lights display is a significant contribution to creating a festive atmosphere that delights residents and visitors alike.

“It reflects everyone’s commitment to making St Annes a truly magical place during the festive season and beyond.”
