Visitors to Fairhaven Lake can once again enjoy a day messing about in boats!
Fylde Council is pleased to announce that the boating lake reopened on May 29th with motorboats, canoes and rowing boats available for hire from 10am to 5pm throughout the school holidays and at weekends during term time.
Cllr Michael Sayward, Chair of the Tourism and Leisure Committee, said: “With the warmer weather coinciding with the Bank Holiday, we’ve been delighted to see visitors to the lake already enjoying the boating once again, with a few additional safety measures in place for everyone’s peace of mind.
“You don’t have to pre-book to hire a boat but we do ask for patience from visitors as each boat and life jacket is sanitised after use.
“We also ask people to maintain social distancing and follow the instructions on site so that we can all enjoy the fun safely.
“Fairhaven Lake opened originally in 1893 and boat hire has long been part of its appeal, so it’s great to see it up and running once again.”
As well as boat hire, there are plenty of activities for visitors to enjoy at Fairhaven Lake.
The Ribble Discovery Centre has recently been refurbished, reopened and renamed. Now known as the RSPB Fairhaven Lake Visitor Centre, it was officially reopened by the Mayor in March and is great place to learn about the Ribble Estuary, which is one of the UK’s most important wetlands
In addition, new pathways have been opened up around the lake and there’s also a new 18-hole adventure golf course.
