On Tuesday this week, the RHS announced 44 Community Gardening groups had secured a place in the 2023 Britain in Bloom UK Finals.
We are thrilled to share the news that Lytham in Bloom have made the shortlist for the Coastal category this year.
Bernard Pendleton, Chair of North West in Bloom said: “We are delighted that the Royal Horticultural Society (RHS) has accepted our region’s nomination of Lytham in Bloom to represent the North West in the “Coastal” category in the RHS Britain in Bloom UK 2023 Finals.
“Lytham has received Gold in the North West in Bloom “Coastal category” and been category winner for more years than I can remember.
“Their In Bloom work throughout the town is truly wonderful, the whole area is bloomin’ excellent. The volunteers and partners work tirelessly throughout the year to keep all their local areas looking beautiful, as well as cleaner and greener. They have embraced numerous environmental and sustainable initiatives and have some outstanding community events throughout the year.
“The support they receive from everyone in the local community is inspirational. They are wonderful ambassadors for Fylde and the North West and we wish them every success. We will be supporting them on their 2023 RHS Britain in Bloom UK finals journey as they compete with Llandudno, Exmouth, Whitehaven, St Brelade in Jersey and East Haven in Scotland.”
The volunteers of Lytham in Bloom work hard throughout the year to ensure the displays are always looking their best, as well as tackling leaf clearing throughout the winter months.
The group regularly receives awards and recognition for their hard work, and at the 2022 North West in Bloom Awards won the gold award for their category as well as the trophy for the overall category winner; Small Coastal Resort.
Councillor Michael Sayward, Chair of the Tourism and Leisure Committee for Fylde Council added: ”This really is fantastic news for the Lytham in Bloom Group and I am incredibly proud of the hard work they carry out throughout the year to keep Lytham looking its best.
I would like to take the opportunity to wish them all the best for the awards and have everything crossed that they are crowned the winners of the Coastal category. It is more than deserved.”
Britain in Bloom judges will visit each of the finalists in the summer of 2023 with the winners of each category announced at an awards ceremony in the autumn.
