The Lowther Pavilion has delivered another fantastic year of performances and community events, as revealed in its annual report to Fylde Council. This is a wonderful testament to how the venue has flourished since becoming an independent trust in 2006.

The popular Lytham venue has continued to thrive as a cultural hub for residents and visitors, with nearly 90,000 people enjoying 516 performances throughout 2024/25. This is an incredible 20% increase on the previous year. At a time when theatre attendance is declining nationally, the Lowther Trust’s work has transformed the historic venue into a vibrant destination that brings joy to thousands of people across the Fylde Coast.

This remarkable success story includes the completion of the stunning new Windmill Performance and Education Centre, finished on schedule and under budget using local architects and contractors. The state-of-the-art facility is already attracting international attention and boosting the local economy.

Fylde Council’s three-year partnership with the theatre, which concluded in March 2025, has helped the Trust establish itself as a sustainable, thriving organisation with an exciting future ahead. This support for almost two decades has enabled the venue to stand confidently on its own feet, securing quality entertainment for residents into the future. The Council also maintains the beautiful Lowther Gardens, creating a welcoming green space that complements the venue perfectly.

Councillor Jayne Nixon, Lead Member for Tourism, Leisure and Culture, said: “The Lowther Pavilion is a real gem in our community, and we’re proud to have supported its success. Watching the Trust grow into a confident, sustainable organisation has been brilliant. From sold-out pantomimes to award-winning festivals in the park, this venue brings people together and enriches our cultural life. The new Windmill Performance and Education Centre will open up even more opportunities for our residents to enjoy world-class performances and participate in inspiring creative activities right here in Fylde for years to come.”
