The sands of St Annes will be host to a spectacular two-day Beach Sports Event in March 2022.

Following the fantastic success of the Beach Fun Day on 18 September 2021, Global Beach Sports have organised a full weekend of sports, music, and family fun for Saturday 26 and Sunday 27 March 2022.

Funded in part by the Fylde Council ARG Events Support Scheme, the new festival will see the return of the hugely popular BMX display from September’s event. Working with partners both national and local, including Fylde Rugby Community Foundation and Fylde Coast Futsal Club, Global Beach Sports will be bringing rugby, football, netball, volleyball, and softball onto the sand with coaching and competition, all safely situated within AirParx inflatable pitches.

Visitors will be able to tour the fairgrounds and enjoy a broad range of attractions and entertainment, with live music and a DJ, and refreshments available from various concessions stands. All this will be situated on the beautiful beachfront next to the icon St Annes pier.

Cllr Michael Sayward, Chair of the Tourism & Leisure Committee, said: “On behalf of Fylde council, I am delighted to welcome back the Global Beach Sports team, and we are extremely pleased to be able to host this two-day event. There will be something for everyone to take part in, no matter your level of fitness or familiarity, and we anticipate another weekend of family fun to remember.”

Jason Harborow, Chief Executive of Global 13, said: “We are really looking forward to staging the next Global Beach Sports event on St Annes Beach. Last September’s event was a great success, with lots of people of all ages attending and participating, and the next event promises to be even bigger with more sports and activities over two days for the whole family.”

The September Beach Sports Event was hugely popular with residents and visitors alike, as reported in the Blackpool Gazette: https://www.blackpoolgazette.co.uk/news/people/beach-sports-at-st-annes-a-real-winner-3389229

The event will take place March 26 – 27 on St Annes Beach. Entry details and more information can be found at www.global-beachrugby.com
