Park View 4U have been awarded two grants from Fylde Council’s Community Wellbeing Fund, funded by the UK Government’s UK Shared Prosperity Fund. Between February 2024 and March 2025, the programme allocated £67,000 to 13 initiatives across nine local organisations, fostering over 209 volunteering roles and creating 185 new volunteering opportunities. Through these projects, the fund engaged more than 2,100 Fylde residents, empowering communities and promoting wellbeing across the region.

Founded in 2003, Park View 4U oversees QEII Park View Playing Fields, owned by Fylde Council, and has transformed the area into a vibrant hub featuring a toddler playground, skate park, woodland sculpture trail and community centre.

The Community Wellbeing Fund played a pivotal role in enabling Park View 4U to host the Growing Well Festival and Summer Skills Programme, fostering intergenerational connections and youth engagement. Attracting 1,500 attendees, the Growing Well Festival featured community natural land art by internationally renowned artist James Brunt and visits from Hugo’s Animal Sanctuary and Lowland Farm Alpacas, while the Summer Skills Programme engaged 95 young people in skateboarding workshops by Real Skate North West, bushcraft sessions and woodworking.

Following this success, Park View 4U received a second grant to establish the Park View 4U Volunteer Hub, transforming a shipping container into a dedicated space for volunteers within the park. The hub serves as a central meeting point for volunteers to gather, plan activities and deliver community events, addressing social isolation, improving mental wellbeing and strengthening community ties.

Park View 4U commented: “We are delighted to say that our wellbeing project has delivered everything we had hoped for and more by increasing volunteer opportunities, delivering a successful Summer Skills Youth Programme, and improving facilities at the QEII Park View Playing Fields. We have loved being a part of the Community Wellbeing Fund and would like to thank Fylde Council for supporting our project and the health of our green space and local community.”

Councillor Chris Dixon, Lead Member for Social Wellbeing, commented: “The success of Park View 4U’s initiatives is a testament to the incredible impact that can be achieved when community spirit meets meaningful support. Fylde Council is proud to have contributed to such a transformative project, and we remain committed to enhancing the health, wellbeing and green spaces for our residents. Congratulations to everyone involved in making this vision a reality.”
