Fylde Council will be among hundreds of organisations across the country taking part in Love Parks Week 2026, celebrating the borough’s network of parks, play areas, and open spaces enjoyed by residents every day.
Love Parks Week runs from Friday 24 July to Sunday 2 August and is an annual celebration of parks and green spaces, the people who care for them, and the benefits they bring to communities. When used frequently, parks provide over £34 billion in health and wellbeing benefits annually and save the NHS over £111 million every year in reduced GP visits alone.
Fylde’s 21 parks and open spaces range from the formal gardens of Lowther Gardens and Ashton Gardens to well-used neighbourhood play areas across Lytham, St Annes, and Kirkham – offering play facilities, sports provision, green corridors and community gathering points for residents of all ages.
Councillor Jayne Nixon, Lead Member for Tourism, Leisure and Culture, said: “Our parks are some of Fylde’s most valued community assets. From Fairhaven Lake to local neighbourhood play areas, these spaces give residents somewhere to be active, connect with others and enjoy the outdoors. Love Parks Week is a great reminder of just how much our green spaces contribute to life in Fylde.”
Keep Britain Tidy’s Chief Executive, Allison Ogden-Newton OBE, added: “Keep Britain Tidy’s Love Parks campaign is an opportunity for everyone to celebrate, appreciate and recognise the value of their park and green space – and also to talk about what that green space means for them and their communities.
“Parks are essential for our wellbeing and the health of our environment, and we know that spending time in them offers opportunities for exercise, social connection and stress reduction.
“The Love Parks campaign would not be possible without the backing of our local authority partners, including Fylde Council.”
