The rainbow flag has been raised at Fylde Council’s Town Hall to mark Pride Month and the LGBT Friendship Group that has met in the Borough for over 10 years.
The group meets every first Wednesday of the month in various locations throughout St Annes. The sessions are run by coordinator Andrew Noble who is a valued Fylde Community Volunteer. Andrew founded ‘Lytham Let Live’ after moving to the Fylde coast over 20 years ago.
He said: “Fylde is wonderful. It’s an amazing and very welcoming place. I’m so proud of the group and how it has grown over the years, with people becoming close friends and feeling comfortable and confident in the space we have created within these groups.”
“We regularly have guest speakers attend our coffee mornings and it’s great to hear how the LGBT community is now being recognised across all sectors both within the workplace and the community.”
“We’re always welcoming new faces to our coffee mornings and if you would like to join us or get in touch with any questions you can contact me on twitter at @LythamLet.”
Andrew has previously won the Police Divisional Commander’s Commendation in recognition of his dedication to the St Annes Neighbourhood Policing Team.
With support from the YMCA, Andrew also coordinates free health walks in and around the Fylde area. These are aimed to help anyone keep active, create support networks tackling isolation and rehabilitation receiving referrals from local GPs.
Allan Oldfield, Chief Executive of Fylde Council said: “We’re always happy to welcome Andrew and the group here at the Town Hall to enjoy their coffee mornings.”
“It’s been fantastic to see the group grow over the years they have hosted here, with new faces regularly appearing proving the welcoming nature of Andrew and those that already attend.”
“I wish Andrew all the best for the future and hope to see the continued success of the group who have now become friends at Fylde Council.”
