At this week’s meeting of the Executive Committee, Fylde Council approved the release of £11,500 in Section 106 funding to Kirkham Town Council for improvements to the William Segar Hodgson playing fields and pavilion.

The funding, secured from a new housing development nearby in Kirkham, will be used towards the installation of CCTV, improvement to the pitches, and the purchase of a grass roller. These improvements are in line with the terms of the planning agreement associated with the development.

“We are pleased to support Kirkham Town Council in their efforts to enhance the public open space in the area,” said Fylde Council’s Leader, Councillor Karen Buckley.

“This funding will help to create a safer and more enjoyable space for the local community and is in line with the commitments of our new Corporate Plan 2024-28.”

The Town Council will be responsible for managing the project, and an agreement will be put in place to ensure that the funds are used appropriately.

This decision is part of Fylde Council’s commitment to supporting the development of high-quality public open spaces in the borough.
