A dream of a double act has been announced to lead the fun-packed line-up for Fylde Fest: Spring into Life when it returns to St Annes Square on Saturday 28 March.
Top TV stars Steve Royle (Britain’s Got Talent) and Tom Lister (Emmerdale’s Carl King) are joining forces to perform an extra special comedy routine live on stage as part of the free family festival to celebrate healthy living, creativity and community spirit by the seaside.
This exciting new event from Fylde Council and Discover Fylde will run from 12pm to 4pm in the newly developed event space in St Annes Square, and will offer a bucketful of live entertainment, activities and interactive experiences for all ages, all designed to get people moving, learning and having fun together.
Award-winning comic and panto favourite Steve Royle thrilled the crowds at the very first Fylde Fest in October 2025 with his madcap antics and hilarious storytelling sessions and is currently juggling rehearsals for top comedy play The Last Laugh as he gets ready to do it all again this March! He said: “After performing at Fylde Fest last year I know just how much fun these events can be. I am very excited to be returning to the stage there and entertaining the good folk of St Annes and beyond who never disappoint. Get ready for me and Tom as you’ve never seen us before!”
Star of stage and screen Tom Lister is also very happy to be taking time out from his busy schedule and can’t wait to join in all the fun! He added: “Being on stage with my best mate is one of my favourite things to do and being a part of such an important community event makes it all the better. We hope to see everyone there!”
Visitors can also look forward to a packed programme designed to get everyone active and involved on the day, including live demonstrations by Bake Off: The Professionals’ famous finalist Raf Perussi from Beurre Patisserie; lively dance demonstrations from Zumba Suzy; football penalty shootouts with Lytham Juniors; fun athletics challenges with Luke Weafer, cool skateboarding tasters from Live Like Ralph; the chance to be bowled over by Fylde Bowling Academy, and take on the Smoothie Bike Challenge with the Fylde Sports and Communities Team to compete for the chance to win a bike!
Creative activities will be in abundance too – from pebble painting sessions with iHope to plant potting for budding young gardeners with St Annes in Bloom; crafting with local artistic hub Pot Bound; bookmark designing and matcha tastings with Fable; fun activities hosted by Streetwise; Lego play sessions and Warhammer introductions from Red Wizard Gaming, and a colourful circus skills workshop from Matrix Circus.
Music and live performance will bring plenty of energy to the afternoon, with UpBeat Rock Academy bringing electrifying sets from up and coming bands Double Helix, Blazing Souls, Pursuit of Truth and Dark Divide, while compere Ian Hooper will keep the show running smoothly and the atmosphere buzzing throughout the day.
Community organisations will also be present throughout the afternoon to showcase the wide range of activities, services and support available locally. Visitors will be able to meet representatives from local community groups, including Just Good Friends, Family Hubs, Atletico Warton and Noches De Salsa, all sharing ways people can connect with local resources and opportunities.
Fylde Fest: Spring into Life is hosted by Fylde Council and Discover Fylde, with support from community partners, organisations and local businesses, and continues the thrilling new programme of celebrations across the Fylde Coast that help position St Annes Square as a vibrant hub for culture, commerce and community life, and are all made possible through investment from the UK Shared Prosperity Fund (UKSPF).
Leader of Fylde Council, Councillor Karen Buckley, said: “Fylde Fest events are all about bringing people together and celebrating everything that makes our community so special. We’re delighted to welcome such popular entertainers as Steve Royle and Tom Lister this year, alongside so many brilliant local groups and organisations who are helping create a wonderful day for everyone. With activities for all ages, it’s a great opportunity for residents and visitors to enjoy a fun day out while discovering new ways to stay active, creative and connected in our community.”
