Following the recent decision by the RSPB to withdraw from operating the Fairhaven Lake Visitor Centre and shop, they have now served their official six-month notice, meaning they will be leaving us on 31 July at the latest.
Cllr Jayne Nixon, Lead Member for Tourism, Leisure and Culture, said:
“We would like to take this opportunity to sincerely thank the RSPB for their invaluable contribution to Fairhaven Lake over the years. Their dedication, expertise, and passion for nature conservation has played a key role in making the Visitor Centre a cherished place for residents and visitors alike. It has been a pleasure working alongside them, and we wish them well in their future endeavours.”
Looking ahead, Fylde Council is committed to ensuring that services similar to those delivered by the RSPB continue and the Visitor Centre will remain open.
Cllr Nixon added:
“We are currently exploring the best way to achieve this with staff moving into the building so there may be some internal alterations. Our goal is to build on the fantastic work that has been done and maintain Fairhaven Lake as a hub for wildlife appreciation, education, and community engagement. We appreciate your patience and support during this transition and will share further information in due course.”
