Details relating to the new parish councils in Lytham and Ansdell are set out below:
Lytham
- There will be a parish council for Lytham, which will comprise the borough wards of Lytham East and Lytham West.
- The parish council will be divided into two parish wards, each electing five Councillors, meaning that the parish council will have a total of ten Councillors.
- The two parish wards will be exactly the same as the two borough council wards, Lytham East and Lytham West.
Ansdell
- There will be a parish council for Ansdell, which will comprise the borough wards of Park* and Ansdell & Fairhaven
- The parish council will be divided into two parish wards, each electing five Councillors, meaning that the parish council will have a total if ten Councillors
- The two parish wards will be exactly* the same as the two borough council wards, Park and Ansdell & Fairhaven.
* The small parcel of rural land north of Moss Sluice will become part of Westby with Plumptons parish instead of the new Ansdell parish. This affects one property.
General
- The first elections for both new parish councils will be held in May 2025. After that, there will be elections in 2027, then every four years, in lockstep with the other parish councils in the area.
A town council is the same as a parish council. The new parish councils will be able to change their name to a ‘town council’ if they decide to.
