Cotton Traders has come on board as an official sponsor for two of Fylde Council’s premier summer events – the St Annes Kite Festival and Lytham 1940s Weekend.

After a successful campaign to convince the Altrincham-based fashion retailer that Lytham St Annes offers considerably more charm than certain Mediterranean party destinations, Cotton Traders has agreed to provide valuable financial support for both events.

The Lytham 1940s Weekend, scheduled for Saturday 16 to Sunday 17 August, brings wartime history to life through authentic period entertainment, vintage vehicles and carefully recreated historical scenes. This immersive experience on Lytham Green allows visitors to step back in time, with music, dancing and entertainment for all the family.

The St Annes Kite Festival, taking place from Friday 29 to Sunday 31 August, transforms the town’s stunning seafront into a spectacular canvas of colour and creativity. In partnership with SmileFactor10, professional kite flyers demonstrate their expertise alongside family-friendly activities, creating an unforgettable experience for visitors of all ages.

Visitors may also have the opportunity to see Debra, Cotton Traders’ celebrated advertising personality, who will finally discover what she has been missing on the Fylde coast.

Councillor Jayne Nixon, Lead Member for Tourism, commented: “We’re absolutely delighted to welcome Cotton Traders to Lytham St Annes and show them just how spectacular our area truly is. It seems Debra has been missing out all this time! We’re confident that once she experiences our fantastic festivals, beautiful coastline and glorious rural areas, she’ll understand why so many people choose to holiday in Fylde.

“These events showcase the very best of what our community has to offer, and Cotton Traders’ support will help make them even more memorable.”

Shona Jameson, CMO from Cotton Traders, added: “We’re thrilled to be sponsoring the Lytham 1940s Weekend and the St Annes Kite Festival! As a local Northwest business, we know the Fylde coast has a special charm and all it has to offer. We’ve even heard on the grapevine that Debra is back from Ibiza and ready to live it up at both festivals – turns out she’s come to her senses about Lytham St Annes! And like us, she’s very excited to be part of these amazing events.”

The partnership with Cotton Traders demonstrates the growing recognition of Lytham St Annes as a premier destination for both business and leisure, proving that sometimes the best holidays are closer to home than you might think!
