Residents across Fylde will enjoy more beautiful wildflower displays and vibrant community music sessions thanks to the latest round of Community Projects Fund grants supporting two fantastic local groups.

The Treales, Roseacre and Wharles Community Sow and Grow Group has secured £1,154 to create stunning wildflower areas that will burst into colour from January through to autumn. The group’s exciting Phase 3 plans include planting native perennials like musk mallow and oxeye daisies that will self-seed year after year, alongside autumn flowering cyclamen and January snowdrops, ensuring our villages look beautiful throughout the seasons. These areas will not only brighten our communities but also provide vital habitats for pollinators and wildlife.

Meanwhile, Connect Community Group has received £1,927 to expand their much-loved Connect Choir as they move to their wonderful new home at the Well Centre in St Annes. The funding will help purchase essential equipment including portable lighting to create that special atmosphere at performances, promotional materials to spread the word about this inclusive choir, and payment devices to make supporting them easier. The choir brings people together through the joy of music and performs at venues across Fylde, creating connections and lifting spirits.

Councillor Chris Dixon, Lead Member for Social Wellbeing, said: “These grants perfectly demonstrate how our Community Projects Fund transforms local ideas into reality. From wildflower meadows that will delight residents for generations to inclusive music sessions that bring our community together, these projects make Fylde an even more wonderful place to live.”
