Grab a friend, pull up a chair and get ready to discover the world on your doorstep as two fantastic free community film nights come to Lytham and St Annes this November.

The series kicks off at Lytham Institute on Friday 20 November and then visits St Annes United Reformed Church on Thursday 26 November.

Doors open at 6pm with the films starting at 6:30pm. Both evenings will finish at approximately 8pm. Entry is completely free and there’s no need to book, so simply turn up and enjoy. Each venue has space for around 80 people, so arriving early is recommended.

Each evening celebrates a different country, with a selection of films and a short introduction that brings their stories and perspectives to life. The evenings are primarily aimed at adults, with any age guidance confirmed once the film line-up is announced. It’s a relaxed and welcoming chance for neighbours to come together and enjoy something a little different on a dark autumn night.

To give everyone a real taste of each country, food will be available to buy on the night, including the traditional Ukrainian nalysnyky, a much-loved filled pancake.

Councillor Chris Dixon, Lead Member for Social Wellbeing, said: “There’s nothing quite like sharing a great film with your neighbours. These evenings are a lovely way to meet new people, try some delicious food and experience stories from around the world right here in Fylde. Everyone is welcome, so do come along and bring a friend.”

These films are all about bringing our community together and celebrating the many cultures that make Fylde such a vibrant place to live. Keep an eye on the Council’s Facebook page, where the full film line-up will be revealed soon. For more information, email community@fylde.gov.uk.
