Feeding birds is not illegal, and many residents enjoy feeding garden birds as part of their daily routine. However, we recognise that feeding certain species, particularly seagulls and pigeons, can sometimes cause problems in residential areas.
Excessive feeding of seagulls and pigeons may lead to noise, aggressive behaviour, fouling, damage to property, and other forms of nuisance that can negatively affect the local environment and neighbours’ quality of life.
Where such issues are reported, Fylde Council may contact the individuals involved and issue an advisory letter. This is intended to raise awareness of the potential negative impact and encourage responsible behaviour without taking formal enforcement action.
We encourage all residents to feed birds responsibly and consider the wider impact on their neighbourhood when doing so.
