At Fylde Council, AI is used to enhance efficiency, improve service delivery, and support data-driven decision-making while ensuring compliance with legal, ethical, and governance standards. This policy aligns with the UK Government’s Ethical Principles for AI in Government, the Local Government Association’s best practice frameworks, and evolving technological standards. Fylde Council is committed to responsible AI use, maintaining flexibility to adapt to future advancements while safeguarding public trust.

The policy linked below applies to all AI systems deployed, developed, or managed by Fylde Council. It governs their use across all departments and services and applies to employees, contractors, and third parties involved in AI-related activities.

All staff and elected members who have user accounts have access to Copilot chat.
30 members of staff across service areas are trialling full Copilot licenses.
AI Development and Tools
Planning Application Validation Assistant agent- in development. This tool is to support planning technicians through the validation process.
Website Customer Service Assistant agent- in BETA. This tool acts as a customer service assistant and can answer questions relating to Fylde Council and our partner organisations.
Internal IT Support Assistant agent- in development. This tool assists internal users with 1st line ICT support assistance and provides diagnostic data for root cause analysis.
