Fylde Council has completed its annual review of the 2024–2028 Corporate Plan and confirmed strong progress as the organisation prepares for major changes to local government in Lancashire.
A Corporate Plan is the Council’s public roadmap. It explains what the Council is aiming to achieve, the improvements it wants to make, and how it will deliver services for residents and businesses. It guides day‑to‑day work and long‑term planning, and each year the Council reviews it to ensure it remains relevant, realistic and focused on what matters to the community.
This year’s review shows that 91% of the actions in the plan – 47 out of 52 – have been completed or are well underway. Two actions are no longer required or deliverable, and three have been carried forward into a refreshed set of priorities.
The updated plan also reflects the upcoming Local Government Reorganisation (LGR), which will create a new Lancashire unitary council ahead of 1 April 2028. The revisions set out how Fylde Council will continue providing high‑quality services throughout the transition while ensuring Fylde’s identity, priorities and ambitions are strongly represented in the formation of the new authority.
Despite a challenging year, including preparations for LGR, complex planning examinations linked to offshore wind infrastructure, and difficulties recruiting to specialist roles, the Council has maintained momentum. The revised Corporate Plan now includes additional actions to make sure Fylde continues to deliver for residents while playing a full and active role in shaping the new council.
Councillor Karen Buckley, Leader of Fylde Council, said: “This review demonstrates that Fylde Council remains firmly focused on delivering quality for our residents as we navigate changes to local government in Lancashire. Fylde is a unique and special place, and we are determined to protect what makes our borough so distinctive — from the character of our towns and villages to the quality of life our residents value. Throughout this transition we will continue with business as usual, and we will make sure the priorities of Fylde’s communities are promoted clearly and confidently in the imposition of any new unitary council.”
The revised Corporate Plan has been updated in line with the English Devolution and Community Empowerment Act 2026.
