Fylde Council is proudly supporting Noise Action Week (11-15 May 2026), joining the Institution of Environmental Sciences’ national campaign to raise awareness of noise nuisance and help residents take back the peace in their homes and communities.

Running across the week, the Council’s social media campaign is shining a light on the most common causes of noise nuisance across the Fylde Coast – with dog barking topping the list as the most frequently reported issue among the 264 noise complaints received by the Enforcement Team in the last financial year.

The campaign is focused on empowering residents with practical advice to tackle noise issues early – from understanding why a dog barks to having a calm conversation with a neighbour before things escalate. For those who do need to go further, the Enforcement Team is ready to act.

Alongside day-to-day casework, Fylde Council officers have seized equipment used to cause nuisance and arranged for an automotive locksmith to disconnect the battery of a car whose alarm had been sounding intermittently while the owner was believed to be away.

A spokesperson for Fylde Council said: “Noise nuisance might not always make the headlines, but for the residents living with it day in, day out, it can have a real impact on their health, their sleep, and their quality of life.

“Noise Action Week is a fantastic opportunity for us to show our community that we take this seriously and that help is available. Our Enforcement Team works incredibly hard behind the scenes, and I’m really proud of the action they take to protect residents across the Fylde Coast.

“But we also want people to feel equipped to tackle issues early, before they escalate. Whether it’s advice on a barking dog or knowing when and how to make a formal complaint, we’re here to help every step of the way.”

Residents can report noise nuisance to Fylde Council here, and download The Noise App to log and record incidents directly from their phone.
