Residents across Fylde are invited to share their views on exciting budget proposals that will shape local services throughout the year ahead.

The full budget proposals for 2026/27 can be viewed here.

Feedback should be submitted by 5pm on Friday 27 February. Email listening@fylde.gov.uk or write to Budget Consultation Feedback, The Town Hall, Lytham St Annes, Lancashire, FY8 1LW. All feedback will be considered at the budget-setting Council meeting on Wednesday 4 March.

The proposals include new resources to help residents reduce their environmental impact through the introduction of food waste collections, additional funding to strengthen the borough’s events programme and support for continuing the Local Plan examination process which provides a framework for future development in Fylde.

Alongside these consultation proposals, the Council is progressing essential health and safety works at Fairhaven Lake Boathouse. The extra £117,000 investment will address fire safety, electrical systems, heating, ventilation and building fabric issues. The aim is to ensure this operational facility remains safe for staff and continues serving thousands of families who visit throughout the year to enjoy activities on and around the lake.

These investments come alongside the Council’s recent commitment to transform swimming facilities, with major improvements to St Annes Pool and the reopening of Kirkham Baths representing a £9.3 million investment in health and wellbeing across the borough.

To support these priorities while maintaining excellent services, the Council proposes a below inflation 2.99% increase in council tax, adding around 13 pence per week for an average Band D household.

Councillor Karen Buckley, Leader of Fylde Council, said: “These proposals represent a balanced and forward-looking budget that invests in the services residents value while keeping costs as low as possible for local households. From expanding food waste collections to strengthening our events programme and progressing the Local Plan, we are focusing on the things that make Fylde a great place to live, work and visit.

“Alongside this, we are taking responsible action to maintain and improve much-loved community assets, from essential works at Fairhaven Lake Boathouse to the £9.3 million transformation of swimming facilities across the borough. These investments support health, wellbeing and opportunity for all ages.

“I’d encourage everyone to participate in our consultation and share their views.”
