Warton residents can look forward to a stunning new heart for their community after Fylde Council approved plans for a £300,000 village centre transformation.
Phase Two of the exciting enhancement scheme will create an attractive shared space perfect for everyday gatherings and community events, alongside improved car parking, beautiful new planting, enhanced lighting and stylish furniture.
The investment builds on the success of Phase One, which delivered a popular new play area for children in 2023, and forms part of the Council’s wider Regeneration Framework identifying Warton as a priority location for public realm improvements.
Fylde Council has worked closely with Bryning with Warton Parish Council to bring the scheme forward, with funding secured through developer contributions, a £30,000 Lancashire Environmental Fund grant and Parish Council support, meaning no additional cost to Fylde taxpayers.
Councillor Karen Buckley, Leader of Fylde Council, said: “This is wonderful news for Warton. For the first time, the village will have a true focal point where residents can come together, events can be held and community spirit can flourish. I’m delighted we’ve worked so effectively with the Parish Council to make this happen.”
Councillor Richard Redcliffe, Lead Member for Planning, added: “The positive feedback we received during the public consultation showed just how much this project means to local people. It’s a great example of how thoughtful planning and genuine community engagement can come together to deliver real improvements for our residents.”
Councillor Angie Normanton, Chair to Bryning with Warton Parish Council, said: “While the regeneration of our central amenity area has been both lengthy and challenging, I am keen to thank the Parish Council subcommittee, the Village Hall trustees and Fylde Council for all their perseverance and hard work in making sure the project goes ahead.
“Warton is long overdue of a community space in the Village Centre for people who live and work in Warton to enjoy”
Works are expected to begin later in 2026, with residents invited to watch their village centre come to life.
