Art lovers across Fylde have embraced their stunning new gallery at Lytham Hall, with thousands of visitors flocking to explore the renowned Lytham St Annes Art Collection in its beautiful new home since its opening in January 2025.
The gallery has transformed how residents and visitors experience one of the country’s largest and most diverse Town Hall art collections. This remarkable collection now enjoys pride of place at Fylde Gallery, where families, art enthusiasts and curious visitors can discover incredible artworks in an inspiring 17th Century setting.
The first year has been packed with fascinating exhibitions that have brought our collection to life. The opening ‘Centenary’ exhibition celebrated 100 years of the collection, while ‘Savage Beauty’ showcased magnificent animal paintings by Richard Ansdell. Visitors have also enjoyed Margaret King’s nature-inspired paintings, and the latest ‘Legacy: Donor Spotlight’ exhibition honouring the generous benefactors who have enriched our collection.
Councillor Jayne Nixon, Lead Member for Tourism, Leisure and Culture, said: “What a fantastic first year for Fylde Gallery! To see thousands of people discovering these amazing artworks that belong to our community has been absolutely wonderful. I’m particularly grateful to our dedicated team of volunteers whose warmth and enthusiasm make every visit special – they’ve been the heart of the gallery, sharing their passion and knowledge with visitors every single day.
“This is exactly what we hoped for when we created this new home for our collection – a vibrant, welcoming space where everyone can enjoy Fylde’s artistic heritage.”
Looking ahead, the next exhibition, ‘In Conversation with the Collection’, running from Thursday 29 January to Saturday 28 February, will celebrate works from the talented Fylde Women Artists group.
Fylde Gallery is open for visitors on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays from 11am to 4pm (last entry 3:30pm). Discover more at: https://www.discoverfylde.co.uk/fylde-gallery-at-lytham-hall/
