Vulnerable homeowners across Fylde will be able to access vital support to heat their homes this winter after the Council secured £44,992 to continue its successful Affordable Warmth initiatives.
The funding, approved by the Executive Committee on Tuesday 18 November, comes as welcome news for homeowners struggling with energy costs. With limited funding available, the grant from Lancashire County Council will help those on low incomes and people with health conditions to repair or replace broken boilers, install insulation and fix heating systems before the coldest months arrive.
The continuation of the scheme enables Fylde to build on its impressive track record of helping residents stay warm and healthy. Since December 2022, the Council’s housing team has already transformed 107 homes through the programme, installing new boilers, preventing damp and mould and making properties more energy efficient.
Councillor Chris Dixon, Lead Member for Social Wellbeing, said: “This is fantastic news for our most vulnerable residents who might otherwise face a cold winter. We weren’t expecting the Affordable Warmth scheme to continue into 2026, so securing this funding is a real boost for our community. Every penny will go directly towards helping people live in warmer, healthier homes, from elderly residents to families with young children who desperately need support with heating costs.”
The scheme particularly helps those with cardiovascular or respiratory conditions, older people, households with young children and anyone whose health suffers in cold conditions. Homeowners who meet the health vulnerability and low-income criteria should visit our dedicated webpage to check the full eligibility requirements and apply. As funding is limited, early applications are advised.
