Communities across Fylde are celebrating their triumph at the prestigious RHS North West in Bloom Awards, bringing home an incredible 41 awards and recognitions that showcase the extraordinary dedication of our volunteers, community groups and Council teams who make our borough beautiful.
The three-day awards ceremony at Bolton Football Stadium saw Fylde secure a spectacular haul including twelve Gold awards for communities and parks ranging from St Annes on Sea to Little Eccleston. Our cherished Ashton Gardens claimed both Gold and the coveted Keiron Moss Award for horticultural excellence, while Stanley Parkinson from Wrea Green and Linda from Staining received Outstanding Contribution Awards for their years of dedication to keeping our communities blooming.
Special recognition went to groups transforming forgotten spaces into vibrant community assets. Friends of Newton Community Park won Best Neighbourhood, the Fylde Sand Dunes Project earned the Conservation and Environmental Award, and eight community projects achieved the highest ‘Outstanding’ level in the Its Your Neighbourhood Awards, including the incredible Force of Nature Community Wellness Garden and Blackburns Farm Nurseries Wildlife Centre.
Mayor of Fylde, Councillor Frank Andrews, attended the ceremony alongside the Mayoress, Mrs Ann Andrews, In Bloom volunteers and members of our operational teams.
Councillor Jayne Nixon, Lead Member for Tourism, Leisure and Culture, said: “These awards are fantastic news for Fylde’s visitor economy and our residents’ quality of life. Our beautiful green spaces and coastal areas are key attractions that draw thousands of visitors to Fylde each year, supporting local businesses and jobs. But more than that, they’re cherished spaces where our communities come together, where children play, and where everyone can enjoy nature on their doorstep.
“This recognition from the RHS reflects the passion and pride our teams and volunteers show every single day in maintaining these wonderful spaces to such exceptional standards.”
The awards reflect the combined efforts of Parks and Coastal Services, Waste and Fleet Services, Parish and Town Councils, and countless community groups whose passion ensures residents and visitors alike can enjoy some of the most beautiful spaces in the North West.
