Acting Council Leader, Councillor Karen Buckley, welcomed retailers back to the High Street this week as many shops re-opened in accordance with the latest easing of the lockdown.

Fylde Council have had almost 300 enquiries to the Environmental Health team on COVID-related issues alone.  The team are extremely busy visiting our retail premises and providing guidance on how to be COVID-secure.  If you are a local business and are preparing to re-open there is plenty of guidance available on our website https://new.fylde.gov.uk/re-opening-and-adapting-your-business-and-managing-covid-19-risks/

Cllr Buckley commented: “I took a stroll through Lytham and St Annes town centres on Monday morning and was delighted to see our retail sector coming back to life.  Shoppers I spoke to were thrilled to see their favourite shops return and they queued patiently to be allowed through the doors, met by a friendly smile and a dollop of hand sanitiser. Clarks in Lytham was operating an appointment system, whilst others were carefully limiting the number of people entering their premises.

Two new premises in St Annes will, I hope, become a firm favourite: French White – selling clothes, accessories and gifts, next door to its sister shop, Lily the Pink. Boutique 84 has re-opened on Orchard Road with a fabulous new homeware range next door.  Good luck to all our local businesses!”
