Families now have the option to share a live-stream video link so that friends and relatives can attend a service from the safety of their own homes during the coronavirus outbreak.

Please note this is a free service to try to assist those who cannot attend funeral services, and unfortunately, Fylde Council cannot guarantee the service or quality of stream on an individual’s device or connection. Technical support is not available, however we have provided some simple troubleshooting guidance below to assist all users.

We strongly advise anyone who wishes to attend virtually, tests the service ahead of time so that they can make any alternative arrangements should their device not support the service.

Alternatively, mourners in physical attendance are welcome to video the service via their own device and live-stream to their own social media channels, if they wish to.

We hope this service helps to offer some comfort during this challenging time.

How to watch a funeral service from home

You will be given the password to access the link by the funeral director in charge or the family.

  1. Go to https://new.fylde.gov.uk/lpcc
  2. Enter the password on the webpage and click Enter
  3. Enter the password on the player and click Watch
  4. The live-stream should now start and be viewable.

If the service has not yet started, you will see a holding screen that says “Lytham Park Crematorium Chapel (temporary screen)”. Please be assured this view will change when the service begins.

Troubleshooting

How can I test the stream ahead of time?
Visit a popular video-sharing website such as https://www.youtube.com on your chosen device.

If you can load and play videos with no issue, then your browser should be compatible with our service.

On the day, we recommend accessing the live stream link in good time ahead of the service time so that you are confident in your device’s compatibility.

Browser compatibility
The video player is fully HTML5 enabled and will play correctly on almost all browsers. It is recommended that you ensure your browser is updated to the most recent version.

Device compatibility
Our service is available through the browser of any web-enabled device. If you are having trouble viewing the stream and have another device available such as a smartphone or tablet, then please try viewing the service on there instead.

The player has stopped for some reason
Please refresh the page. You will be asked to enter the password again and the livestream should resume.

Operating systems
We strongly recommend you ensure you have installed the latest updates for your operating system, and you have anti-virus/anti-malware security software installed, with scans regularly run on your device.

My issue is not resolved
Unfortunately, we are not able to offer any further technical support. An alternative option for the family, if they wish, is to video the service via their own device and live-stream to their own social media channels.
