Usually we welcome visitors from all over the country for their Easter Break here in Fylde, with plenty of events planned, vast beaches to offer as well as lots of restaurants, cafés, parks and open spaces to enjoy.
However, this year is very different.
Due to the current coronavirus pandemic, and the advice to stay home, save lives and protect the NHS, we are asking you not to Discover Fylde this Easter.
Please, continue to follow the government advice and only leave your home for the absolute essentials such as food, medicine or medical attention. One form of exercise is permitted per day within walking distance of your home, and all non-essential travel is not permitted.
Most, if not all the events planned in Fylde over the next few months have been cancelled, restaurants and cafés are closed, and parks and open spaces are only available to residents who live in close proximity to them for their one form of daily exercise.
Councillor Cheryl Little, Chair of the Tourism and Leisure Committee at Fylde Council said: “To our visitors who will be disappointed that they are unable to join us here at Fylde this time, I’d like to say that we will still be here in the months to come and ready to welcome you in good health when the time is right.
I’d like to reassure our tourism businesses – which represent a vital economic driver for Fylde – that we are continuing to work to ensure that you have access to all the information there is to assist you at this difficult time.
These are strange times and during the current lockdown, we all need to do our bit by staying home and staying safe as such I must reinforce the crucial message to stay safe, stay home, save lives.”
We cannot wait welcome you all back to the Fylde, and the sooner everyone adheres to the social distancing guidelines and the advice to stay home, the sooner this pandemic will be over, and we will be able to do this.
